Since 2001, the Musicians Mentoring in Schools Programme has connected New Zealand’s top musical artists with emerging young talent in schools from Kaitaia to Invercargill. The programme also supports teachers and students with NCEA Music Achievement Standards – allowing students to potentially earn four to six credits through their work with their mentor.

Play It Strange was established in 2003 for the purpose of encouraging young New Zealanders to develop interests and skills in songwriting and musical performance. The trust runs a number of programmes throughout NZ to achieve its purpose, including the Enterprising Music Competition, Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition, Band Of Strangers concerts, the Jam Bus mobile recording studio and ukulele orchestra programmes.

Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) offers an outstanding range of possibilities for the study of music at tertiary level.
NZSM offers courses in Classical Performance, Composition and Sonic Arts, Jazz and Music Studies as well as the only post-graduate degree in Music Therapy offered in NZ.
Courses are offered at three campuses: the full degree programmes at the Kelburn and Mt Cook in Wellington and the Jazz programme at Albany in Auckland – as well as a number of distance-learning papers. Our distinguished staff are professionally active, both in NZ and internationally, and they bring the benefits of this experience and expertise to their teaching. NZSM hosts and presents in excess of 200 events each year, the vast majority of which are free to the public. Accredited Drum Teacher of Nelson School Of Music.
Gabor was born in Hungary and studied music in Budapest, attending private lessons with great Hungarian masters. As well as working on well-known Hungarian musical productions as a session drum player Gabor has played for many bands from different genres and styles before he moving to New Zealand in 2007.
While playing for many New Zealand bands, he has carried on his teaching.
Although Gabor is an active player his focus is more on education and sharing experiences.

Gutiar Tutor: Glynn Olsen

Glynn attended Nelson School of Music in the late 80's and in the early 90's then went on to study at Christchurch Jazz School. He has also studied as an audio engineer, is a songwriter and has recorded and released his own recordings.Glynn has a great love for the blues and has played with various Christchurch bands: 'Black Cat Bone', 'Box of Blues' & 'Scarecrow'. He has taught in schools in Christchurch & Tutors on guitar, he is highly respected by his peers. Since moving to Nelson in 2003 he has played in 'The Brandy Creek Band', 'The Acoustakats' & Currently for 'The Boogie Train' & 'The lizard Kings Experience' An exciting blues based stylist this stunning musician is humble about his talents merely saying that he "likes to play a little guitar..."
